Extant Evidence
The available images of many historic tents are illustrations. Artists' representations of historical events.
Peer to Peer
The original artist may or may not draw these tents with mechanics in mind. Many offer as much technical information between artists as The Monster Project.

The stakeholders
Client
The representing client for the project is knowledgeable of historical tents and maintains collections on the subject. They have provided a critique service on tents to the community and are considered an authority on tents within our governing organisations.
Authority = historian?
Artisan Tent Maker
I do not consider that my skills extend to 'historian'. I have experienced the 're-enactment scene' for 30 years and counting. Throughout I have maintained a deep respect for the pursuit of historical accuracy where it is understood & Applicable.
I have made hundreds of tents inspired by cartoons :)
Authority = Niche tent maker?
“In the context of making objects for the hobby, we need to be curious, explorative & even vulnerable.”
I have a complex perception of my own authority. If someone needs my expertise in project development, I willingly present it. This offering is always with the caveat that I am an artisan tent designer in the process.
I can plan, cut, sew & stand beautiful canvas dwellings that will last a lifetime.
I have an artist's eye. This helps me view, contemplate & investigate the physics of a tent represented in images.
Reflection
The mutual authorities as 'historian' & 'tent maker' was not successfully explored. Curiosity about extant evidence in physics or ornamentation remained questions without answers. Deferment became the process. Busy lives? An opportunity lost.
Ambiguity from a respected authority was a surprise.
I experienced a dampening of creative fortitude & tenacity.
I take note that my artists' motivation is complex & even elusive.
This process was played out at a time of grief in losing my beloved father.
Conclusion
The quote was finally delivered approx 1 year after the request.
The draft, digitalisation and client package took 12 hours. A bigger time investment is an expected outcome; when the project design is not refined during in the pre-draft design stage. See FAQ - How do I order works?
