Save Thread

Tip: Use scrap canvas to save thread

Two Methods for run off - run on.

“Lost and wasted thread affects your budget, machine & the environment.”

The image has two methods in action.

  1. To The Left: flat fell seam run-off & draw thread

Work runs off the needle and thread drawn to snip. 20cm must be drawn out through the needle, setting the machine for the next run.

-This action results in 80cm of wasted thread on a finished flat fell.

-The presser foot needs to be raised & lowered.

  2. To the Right: single seam with canvas run-on

The machine sews the work, and then a scrap of the canvas is added to the line & machined. The thread stays in scrap canvas, setting the process for the next run.

-This action results in 8cm of waste thread on a finished flat fell.

-Sewing machine presser foot is not raised.
